Hatha Yoga

Namaste!

“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and to endure what cannot be cured.” ~B.K.S. Iyengar

Despite what many people think or assume, yoga is a science, not a religion. It has been taught and practiced for hundreds of years. Unlike Western medicine, yoga heals the body with the body and focuses on its own ability to strengthen and cure itself. It is a holistic exercise because it encompasses the whole body, improves the mind, and lifts our spirit. The spirit is most always a neglected component in our quest to health but its the core of our emotions. It impacts not only how we feel, but how we perform and can affect our relationships. Yoga can revitalize a dull and lifeless spirit and remove depression and negativity from our life. If any exercise could be rated by its medicinal value on the body, hatha yoga would be at the top of the list!

My philosophy on health combines two concepts involving diet and exercise: adopting a mostly raw plant based diet and a hatha yoga practice. Doing so can synergistically help us live younger, longer, and vitality! I’ve practiced yoga since I was 26 and can still remember the difference it made in my life. Stricken with depression and anxiety since childhood, yoga helped me to eliminate unexplained sadness and lack of confidence. I can still remember my first yoga teacher’s name, Julie Crutchfield! Her classes were so basic and simple but they worked! That’s what makes yoga so great because you don’t need to become some rock star yogi to feel the difference in your life and to see the benefits on your health!
